Singapore born mixed media artist, Gareth Tristan Evans was brought up in a remote Welsh valley and now resides in Macclesfield, utilising a wide range of techniques from photography to digital art to traditional pen and brush.
Widely influenced by memories of his childhood, vintage textiles, urban street art and an O.C.D. attention to detail, Gareth employs whatever skills and materials needed to achieve the desired result without conforming to tradition.
To date, Gareth has exhibited extensively in the north of England and has featured at the Manchester and Edinburgh Art Fairs, he was also featured in as ‘Artist in Focus’ in April's edition of lifestyle magazine, Cheshire Life.
His latest series ‘Urban Geisha’ is influenced by his interest in materials to create 21st Century versions of the more traditional Geisha. The influence of street art and Eastern symbolism and imagery is obvious in his work. Each piece is hand crafted with layers of Gold Leaf, acrylics, Hanko stamps, authentic Japanese postage stamps and 3D relief tiles woven into each artwork.
