The collection

From stencil to sculpture

More than fifteen years ago, Angel Cake began life as a spray-painted stencil. Since then, the distinctive winged figure has become one of Lhouette's most recognisable creations, continually reimagined through original paintings, limited editions, mixed-media artworks and sculptural reliefs.

Its journey has extended far beyond the artist's studio, with works and installations reaching audiences internationally, from New York's JFK Airport to Miami Art Fair and private collections across the world. Throughout its evolution, Angel Cake has retained the playful spirit, cultural references and unmistakable visual identity that first brought it to life.

With A Fall from Grace, Lhouette takes this celebrated character into an exciting new dimension. Transformed into bronze, the familiar silhouette gains an extraordinary sense of depth, presence and permanence. Intricate surface detailing meets traditional sculptural craftsmanship, creating a fascinating contrast between contemporary Pop Art and the enduring qualities of bronze.

Now available to order in a selection of sizes, materials and finishes, the Angel Cake sculpture collection offers collectors an opportunity to experience this iconic figure in an entirely new way.

Behind the work

From the studio to the foundry

Bringing Angel Cake into three dimensions required an entirely new approach to Lhouette's distinctive stencil techniques. Working within his own studio, the artist developed a life-size sculptural model, painstakingly building its surface through individually cut and layered stencils. This intricate process allowed the familiar details of his two-dimensional artwork to become part of the sculpture itself, transforming his signature visual language into something tangible.

With the original model complete, the next stage of its journey took place at Pangolin Editions, the renowned Gloucestershire foundry celebrated for its expertise in fine-art bronze casting. Here, traditional craftsmanship and specialist techniques were brought together through mould-making, casting, surface finishing and patination, translating Lhouette's vision into bronze.

With more than three decades of experience, Pangolin Editions has collaborated with some of the most significant names in contemporary sculpture, including Damien Hirst, Antony Gormley, Marc Quinn and Stik. This remarkable heritage of craftsmanship provides the perfect setting for Angel Cake's evolution, bringing a new sense of permanence, texture and sculptural presence to one of Lhouette's most recognisable creations.
