Magdalena Morey (b. 1974, Lublin, Poland) is a classically trained contemporary artist whose atmospheric landscape paintings reflect both academic rigour and emotional sensitivity to place.
She graduated from the C.K. Norwid Art College in Lublin, earning a diploma in artistic textiles, before completing a Master’s degree in Painting at the Faculty of Arts, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in 2000. Studying under Professor Walenty Wróblewski, Morey developed a strong foundation in composition, tonal structure and painterly technique, qualities that remain evident in her work today.
After relocating to Cambridge, England in 2005, Magdalena began exhibiting widely, establishing a long-term collaboration with a gallery near Cambridge in 2008. In 2009, she moved to Switzerland, continuing to refine her artistic voice while living near Zurich. Since 2015, she has been based in Spain, first near Madrid and now in the dramatic northern region of Asturias, a landscape of expansive skies, rugged coastline and shifting light that continues to influence her practice.
Her compositions are defined by open horizons, soft transitions of light and richly layered surfaces. Working primarily in oil and mixed media, she builds depth through subtle texture and tonal restraint, allowing each scene to feel both expansive and intimate.
Magdalena Morey is currently represented by several international galleries and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. Her works are held in private collections across multiple continents.
