Artist Profile
Eddy Bennett is originally from Cornwall but moved to London 7 years ago to become a freelance artist.
He only recently relocated to the creative hub that is Brighton. Eddy is now an internationally acclaimed artist that has produced work and commissions from all over the world. A self-taught artist, Eddy has honed and mastered the ability to create each piece completely by hand producing works of precision both in conceptual consideration and painstaking execution.
His original works are painted by hand in reverse onto glass, layer by layer in enamel paint, eventually revealing technical typographic works that consist of other natural materials such as Mother of Pearl, and 23 carat gold leaf.
The gold leaf is applied to the glass using the Victorian method of gilding giving the gold leaf a mirror like state. Not only does he use high quality natural materials to create his pieces, but each artwork is part of a process that takes weeks to complete. Eddy’s distinctive style is unique, bridging the gap between the traditional craft of sign writing, gilding and the vibrant aesthetic of the current Pop movement. His precision, skill and knowledge of materials is clear in each piece he produces.
