Jason Mulligan is a contemporary sculptor specialising in stone, currently based in Kent. His artistic practice was profoundly shaped by his initial visit to the marble quarries of Carrara, Italy, in 1996, an experience that left an enduring impression on him.
Jason employs a direct carving method, deeply rooted in his fascination with stone as a versatile medium. His sculptures explore themes such as recognition, perception, and speculation—concepts that resonate across both archaeological inquiry and artistic expression, spanning from ancient to contemporary contexts.
His smaller, handheld works evoke a primal, ancestral quality, while his larger, more naturalistic sculptures prompt observers to reconsider their surroundings with heightened awareness and new perspectives.
Jason’s art is represented in prominent collections throughout the USA, Canada, Norway, Europe, and the UK. He actively participates in both group and solo exhibitions and has created significant public sculptures that are on display across the UK and Ireland.
In recognition of his contributions to sculpture, Jason was elected a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors in 2008.
