Artist Profile

Maxim is a British contemporary artist and musician whose bold mixed-media works explore the contradictions within human nature. Known to millions as a member of The Prodigy, he creates a visual world in which beauty meets menace and the shocking sits alongside the gentle.

Influenced by surrealism, Salvador Dalí and Hieronymus Bosch, Maxim combines layered textures, found materials and powerful recurring symbols. Butterflies, flowers, skulls and weapons are placed in unexpected contexts, confronting darker aspects of society while expressing his belief in hope, freedom and the triumph of good over evil.

He began making art in 2004 and initially exhibited as MM, determined that the work should be judged independently of his music. Maxim has since become an internationally collected visual artist, with successful solo exhibitions in London and Los Angeles.
