Artist Profile
Elena Henderson is an artist who uses her paint brush as a powerful means of self-expression. Speaking through her artwork she translates the surrounding world into a profound language of colour, and transforms her emotions into graceful forms and refined shapes and line work.
Working in a variety of textured paint and mixed media - Indian inks, graphite, soft pastels, spray paint, gold and silver leaf - she ranges across a spectrum of vibrant shades and intriguing surfaces to create a compelling visual statement.
Henderson’s new collection of semi abstract florals are sophisticated and elegant; her palette is light and fresh while her shapes seem to emerge organically from the canvas to offer an electrifying viewing experience. Before she became an artist she was a florist owning her own shop, and she also worked in the field of interior design for a time. These experiences gave her a deep-seated love of the unlimited colours, varied textures and sheer beauty of flowers, as well as an appreciation of their metaphorical value: “A quickly fading bloom or an unopened bud reflect the types of changes we experience in life."
