At university Kate began to collect objects that would enable her to set up still life scenes and light them differently to change the focal point, emphasising a certain item.

She enjoys the translation of light into paint, the properties of the pigments and the challenge of photorealism. Kate loves the fact that she can get more detail into a painting than from a photograph and play around with oversaturated colour and light. Developing her style over time, Kate's photorealist paintings are meticulous, highly detailed compositions that draw on the language of photography.

Kate creates glossy, larger than life canvases capturing the appeal of the iconic items showcased in each unique piece.  Today, working with such a precise technique, Kate skillfuly deceives our perception in each of her playful scenes.
